LONGMEADOW PLAYERS TEACHERS’ FUND

The Longmeadow Players Teachers’ Fund is a trust fund established to help uphold the high quality of education that currently exists in our town. Available to all members employed by the Longmeadow Public School system, the fund grants awards to members to be used for professional education and enrichment.

Who is eligible?

All LEA members who have at least one calendar year of employment, and who, following the professional education, agree to return for at least another calendar year are eligible to receive a grant.

How is the fund governed?

  • The fund will accept any unrestricted gift and/ or donation that individuals or groups wish to make.

  • The interest from the fund will be used to make grants.

  • A grant will be given without attachment.

  • The trustees of the fund will be the Executive Board of the Longmeadow Education Association.

  • The screening and selection of candidates will be made by a committee of L.E.A. members as follows:

a. President of the L.E.A.

b. Vice President of the L.E.A.

c. Co-Treasurers of the L.E.A.

d. 3 selected members of the L.E.A.

Student Scholarships

EDWIN L. FINKLEHOFFE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

The Edwin L. Finklehoffe Scholarship was established in 1977, named in honor of the former LHS science teacher and past president of the Longmeadow Education Association. The Finklehoffe Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior based on character, scholarship, leadership and involvement in community and/or school activities. Preference is given to students entering the field of science, or a related field. It is a one-time award totaling $400.00.

LONGMEADOW EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

The award was established in 1958. Two, $200.00 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors based on character, scholarship, leadership and involvement in community and/or school activities. If the students maintains satisfactory achievement, the same amount may be awarded in each succeeding year up to a maximum of five years.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants should obtain an application and a transcript from the Guidance Office. Seniors should apply through Naviance and submit on or before May 13th. Applications with accompanying documents can be mailed to Anna Gelinas at Williams MS 410 Williams St Longmeadow MA 01106
